Tricia Sickmann Joins Octave as Chief People Officer

Tricia Sickmann

Tricia Sickmann, a seasoned human resources leader in healthcare, has been named Chief People Officer at Octave. With over 25 years of experience leading healthcare companies through change, Sickmann is poised to usher Octave into a new chapter of growth.

At Octave, Sickmann will be overseeing a People Experience function that is steadily growing the corporate and clinical workforce during a period of expansion, while building organization strategy and capabilities needed to support a maturing, national company.

“We are so excited to welcome Tricia to our leadership team.  She brings tremendous expertise in leading the people function not just in digital health, but also for rapidly scaling companies,” said Octave Co-Founder and CEO Sandeep Acharya.

Sickmann comes to Octave from Included Health, where she led the company through integration when Doctor On Demand and Grand Rounds merged. She spearheaded combining the two HR Operations teams and building a new infrastructure to support the 2,600-person company under a new, united vision.

Sickmann is adept at leading organizations through change, even in the midst of uncertainty. She joined Doctor On Demand in early 2020, at the dawn of the COVID-19 global pandemic. Within her first few months, she developed a program to recruit hundreds of clinicians to ensure Doctor On Demand could meet the surging needs of patients amid the international health emergency. The company’s resulting growth and success addressing client needs propelled it to a $75M Series D funding round that same year, while also gaining recognition as one of the Best Workplaces by Great Places to Work and Fortune in 2020 and 2021

Prior to Included Health, Tricia was Vice President of Human Resources & Medical Services at vRad (Virtual Radiologic), where she created an HR infrastructure and started a retention program that reduced turnover and she grew vRad’s capacity by 25 percent. Under her leadership, the practice fostered a values-driven culture, leading to Top Workplaces recognition for four consecutive years.

Octave’s model of working directly with  payers is one that speaks to Tricia’s extensive experience. She was formerly the director of human resources at Araz Group, a payer providing managed care services to employer groups.

“I have been so impressed with Octave’s vision to raise the bar for mental health care and make it work well for providers, clients, and payers. I look forward to working collaboratively with the team to make Octave a premier mental health company and workplace,” Sickmann said.
